Can I Handle the Madness?

It may not be common knowledge...ok, it's pretty common knowledge that I am a complete and total scardey-cat. I may sometimes be able to put up a tough act but if I'm at home alone and I hear a strange noise I'm out, my elbows feel tingly when I have to walk through a dark parking lot alone, and I will NEVER live near a graveyard for fear of zombie attacks. It goes without saying that I am not a survival horror enthusiast, so why do I feel the desire to play American McGee's Alice: Return to Madness?
Return to Madness is the sequel to Alice the PC game. A morbid version of the classic tale in which  Alice bloodily hacks her way through Wonderland. When this game came out I was intrigued.  I personally love it when classic stories are taken and re-imagined. What I don't like is shitting my pants in fright. I'm not sure how to reconcile these emotions.
On top of this debacle, I have an obsession. I can't jump on board something when it comes out because I MUST read/ play /watch from the beginning of the series. This opens a whole new can of worms for me. Alice, the original PC game, is hard to come by and goes for a staggering amount on Amazon. Am I willing to pay this price for a game I may be too creeped out to even play?
The new game's graphics are really good. Plus, its coming to console which I love. There is a certain charge to it. Maybe I finally understand what people meant when they told me the reason they liked to go to scary movies was to feel the "thrill of fright". At the very least, if I'm too much of a wuss to do it myself, I hope I can get my boyfriend to play while I watch at a safe distance. Here is the teaser trailer for the new game. I picked the one I thought was the "least" creepy, but it's still a little out there so if you aren't a fan of the freaky factor then I would skip it, if not enjoy:

If you don't want to spend monies on it to try it out. You can torrent it. Then if you like it you can buy it.

  2. I should mention. I have played a bit of the original Alice and it was just sort of wonderfully creepy. Although I DID find the controls to be a bit unwieldy.
